The night before the removalists in Helensvale

Ryan Fletcher · Moving Out Rubbish Removal · Helensvale

The story

We've been in Helensvale for a while now, and this was the first time I'd paid someone to take rubbish away. The removalists were booked for 8am. At 9pm the night before, I realised we had a garage full of stuff we'd agreed wasn't coming.

A cheap flat-pack wardrobe, a broken outdoor setting, old mattresses from the spare room, a bar fridge, and about twenty boxes of stuff we'd decided we could live without.

Helensvale is established estates around the train station and Westfield precinct, and getting things out isn't always simple. Standard driveway access on most streets.

I sent a couple of photos and got a call back within the hour. They gave me a rough idea on the phone but said they'd confirm a fixed price when they saw it in person.

They parked so the back of the truck lined up with the side gate, put a drop sheet down at the door and asked me to show them anything that was staying.

They were there at 6:45am, and by 7:40 the garage was empty and swept. The removalists turned up to a clean space and had no idea anything had been there.

By the time I'd made them a coffee, it was nearly finished. The price didn't change, and they even took a couple of extra bits I'd forgotten about without charging more.

I'd tried to do it myself twice before. Next time I'm just ringing straight away.
