Moving to a smaller floor in Arundel

Scott Morgan · Office Cleanout · Arundel

The story

I'm in Arundel, and I'll be honest: I put this off for far too long. We went fully hybrid after the lease came up, and we needed to hand back a floor in a Southport building with about a week's notice.

Partition screens, a reception counter, kitchen appliances, rows of compactus shelving and years of archive boxes.

Arundel is a leafy family suburb of brick homes and quiet streets, and getting things out isn't always simple. We plan around driveways, unit car parks and loading zones so the truck is close to the load.

When I rang, the person who answered asked a few simple questions about what it was, where it was and how to get to it, and said they could come and look that afternoon.

The crew pulled up, had a look, and told me the price straight away. No surprises, no 'we'll see how it goes'. I said yes and they got started within five minutes.

The building only gave us the goods lift between 6 and 8am. The crew had everything staged on trolleys by the lift doors the night before, so the morning was just loading.

What I appreciated most was that nothing was rushed and nothing was a hassle. They explained where everything was going: charity, recycling or the tip. I felt good about it.

It's a small thing, but having someone else carry it all out made a much bigger difference than I expected.
